(Bill W) July 28, 2010 – Yesterday, Wayne Johnson received good news at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He is free to go home! The Knoxville, Iowa resident was released from the hospital late last week, but was advised to stay in the area until yesterday, when he had a check-up. He has been staying at the Bergman household in Snohomish since, and is thankful for the family’s generosity.
The plan is to board a commercial flight from Seattle to Kansas City tomorrow. The Johnson’s purchased two seats for Wayne, so he can keep his legs elevated during the 3 ½ hour flight. He will then ride in a vehicle from Kansas City to his home in Knoxville.
Wayne is also very appreciative of the cards, e-mails and calls he has received from the racing community. He was able to visit Travis Rilat yesterday at the hospital and was pleased to see the progress he is making in his recovery. Still, it will still be a long road. Please keep the Rilat family in your thoughts and prayers!

Wayne’s account is at US Bank. It is listed as the "Wayne Johnson Donation Account". The other option is to send donations to mother-in-law Barb Berkenpas who is the administrator of the account. Checks should be made out to the Wayne Johnson Donation Account. Mail them to: Barb Berkenpas, Administrator; Wayne Johnson Donation Account; 5418 240th Street, Ashton, IA 51232. Call Barb with any questions at: 712-724-6104 or email barb@eratecomplete.com. You can go to any US Bank in the country and as long as you have the correct name of the account you should be able to donate at any branch. The account is set up in Sibley, Iowa and the folks in Pella, Iowa are aware of it as well. I called one of the Seattle branches and they have the information so all branches in the country should have it.
A Paypal account has also been set up. Go to www.Paypal.com and click on the “Send Money” tab. The email to use is erin@eratecomplete.com. The account is set up so the donations will roll to the appropriate account.
Benefit To Be Held During the Nationals
If you’re in Knoxville for the Nationals, don’t forget the benefit to be held for Wayne!
The benefit will be on Friday, August 13 of the Nationals in the Grandstands. A Silent Auction will be held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by a Live Auction from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
