26 Promotions – Casa Grande, AZ – (May 23, 2018) – Jarrett Martin scored his first victory of 2018 on Saturday night with the Power 600 Series Non-Wing Micros at Central Arizona Speedway.

Starting third in the final heat, Martin knew he needed to pick up at least one position if he was going to make the six-car feature invert.

“Making up ground in the heat race was going to be important,” he explained. “But a couple of laps in, first and second got into it and I ended up with a tire rub from the right side kickout, but we were able to hang on to finish third.”

Missing the invert by one spot, Martin was scheduled to start the 20-lap feature in seventh, but moved up a row to fifth when another car had issues firing off.

“I have been trying to get to the third or fourth starting positions in the feature, so starting seventh meant I had to make up ground early to get to the front in time,” said Martin. “I got lucky and ended up starting fifth behind Clay and Jr. on the inside row. We got up to third early, and I was determined to get to the lead.”

Martin and Eliason Jr would swap positions back and forth a few times before Martin took control of second-place and set his sights on his Streaker Racing teammate, Clay Sprau.

“I restarted behind Clay a few times, and I was trying to figure out which parts of the track I had the advantage at, and I ended up getting by with a good run going into turn three,” he said. “After taking the lead, I tried to get a little bit smoother and make fewer mistakes. By that time, the slick spot going into turn one had widened out, and I started to get a little loose going into that corner. The rest of the track was still pretty good, so it made for a tough but racy track. I was able to hang on through a couple more lap cars, while the car was going away a little bit, and take the checkered.”

Martin now has one win, and six top-fives in his six Micro Sprint starts this season.

Martin heads to Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico this weekend with the ASCS Southwest Region for their two-day Salute to Indy event in the Steve Stone Racing number 57 Wing Sprint Car.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Streaker Racing, K Corp, Pace Chassis, My Race Pass, Paint by Steve, The Race Shack, and Bell Helmets for their continued support.
