Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (May 22, 2018) – Marshall Skinner brought an ill-handling sprint car home with a top-10 finish last Saturday night during the Hooker Hood Classic at Riverside International Speedway.

Skinner started fifth in the 40-lap race following a third-place finish in his heat race.

“The car was just too tight in the feature,” he said. “I bicycled the car one time and fell back from fifth to about eighth. I got back up to about fourth or fifth. Then I moved further up the race track because I was too tight on the bottom. Every time I went in on the bottom I’d about turn over so I quit doing that. But the longer we went the further the groove got around the top, plus I had too much gear to run up there.”

Skinner was seventh at the checkered flag.

“I feel good,” he said. “I think I almost destroyed (the car) about five times. But I rolled it into the trailer without a scratch. I thought it was a pretty good race. I was happy with it. It wasn’t like I was racing with a bunch of nobodies. Any time you race around here it’s tough. I don’t care what anybody says.”

Skinner is looking forward to the USCS Speedweek, which kicks off four consecutive nights of racing this Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., before trips to Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., on Saturday; Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., on Sunday; and Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn., on Monday. The teams will get a couple of days off before Speedweek resumes the following weekend.

“We’re planning on running all seven nights,” he said. “I hope the weather cooperates. I’m looking forward to it. We’ve won the points a couple of times before and I think I’ve won features at every Speedweek track except near Columbus.”
