Chuck McGillivray lined up in position 15 for Friday’s Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series feature event. When the checkered flag waved, McGillivray had claimed the Autoland Hard Charger Award.
McGillivray’s Ponderosa #101 crossed the finish line ninth. That was good enough not only for the $100 bonus from Autoland, but also for the Madison, South Dakota, driver’s third consecutive feature finish in the top ten and moves him into a tie for fifth in the season standings.
On the other end of the spectrum, 2015 MSTS champion Eric Lutz was not as lucky. The driver of the Jeremy Scadden Construction #6 was sidelined at the start of the feature event when he lost a left front wheel and sustained other damage. Lutz was given the A Plus Towing & Repair Hard Luck Award.
A third special award was up for grabs at Rapid Speedway’s MSTS event. Underberg Lawn Service offered $100 available for any driver finishing outside the top five. The recipient was determined by a random draw. The 19 was pulled from the bag to give Brant O’Banion the surprise bonus.
The Autoland Hard Charger Award and A Plus Towing & Repair Hard Luck Award are each given out at every MSTS event.
The next events occur on back-to-back nights in two states. First up, a Friday night battle against the Midwest Power Series and Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank at the newly reconstructed Jackson Motorplex in Jackson Minnesota. Saturday night, MSTS and Nebraska 360s duke it out again at the $2,000 to win Memorial Day Clash at Park Jefferson Speedway just outside of North Sioux City, South Dakota.
