Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 18, 2018) – Travis Rilat finally got a great heat race draw last Saturday during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event and he capitalized.

Rilat started on the pole position of a heat race at I-30 Speedway and he led the distance to score the victory in the BDS Motorsports No. 1.

“Everyone is so even these days it makes it difficult to pass a lot of cars in an eight-lap or 10-lap heat race,” he said. “The draw is so crucial with the ASCS format. We were buried by it a week ago in Pennsylvania and it worked in our favor to start the night last Saturday at I-30 Speedway.”

Rilat’s heat race result – his third heat win of the season and first with the ASCS National Tour – earned enough points to advance into the feature redraw. Unfortunately, the redraw didn’t go in his favor as Rilat pulled the second-highest number – seven – to start the A Main on the inside of the fourth row.

“The goal going into each night is to make the feature redraw and hope that luck is on your side to start in the first couple of rows of the A Main,” he said. “The track was predominantly around the bottom in the main event so we did our best to maintain and then capitalize if someone in front of us had a mistake.”

Rilat battled between the sixth and eighth positions for most of the race before a late-race restart, which cost him a handful of positions and resulted in an 11th-place result.

“Sometimes restarts go your way and sometimes they don’t,” he said. “That final one didn’t go our way and cost us a top 10, but that’s part of racing.”

Rilat missed the first two ASCS National Tour races last week because of work commitments.
