Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (May 16, 2018) – Channin Tankersley is heading to one of his most successful tracks this Saturday when Golden Triangle Raceway Park hosts the season-opening ASCS Gulf South Region race.
The first five ASCS Gulf South Region events have been rained out this season, setting the stage for the highly anticipated opener this Saturday at the bullring in Beaumont, Texas.
“We’re really excited to finally get back to racing,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of long breaks with the weather not cooperating.”
Tankersley and the Bruce Griffith owned No. 17 raced a trio of times with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series last month, including setting a career-best result for Tankersley.
“Our goal is to go out there and be competitive,” Tankersley said. “A top five every night is always the main goal. If we can go out there and execute and not have any hiccups I think we’ll have a good shot at running up front.”
Tankersley has multiple wins at Golden Triangle Raceway Park, including trips to Victory Lane in 2016, 2011, 2009 and twice in 2008. He has also earned at least one top-10 finish at the track during the last nine seasons the oval was open (it was closed last year).
“We’ve always seemed to get around there pretty good,” he said. “I have a lot of laps there.”
Tankersley has earned four straight top-four finishes and 11 top 10s in his last 12 races dating back to 2013 at the track.
