Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (May 10, 2018) – Joe Trenca recorded his first top-10 finish of the season last Saturday during a Patriot Sprint Tour event at Land of Legends Raceway.
The Mucci Motorsports driver opened the night by advancing from seventh to fourth place in a heat race. A runner-up result in the dash lined Trenca up on the inside of the sixth row for the A Main.
“We got right into the top 10 and ran there the whole race,” he said. “About fifth through ninth were right there close battling throughout the race. I’d have liked to see the feature be a few more laps because we all ran down cars in the top five in traffic. It was a lot of fun.”
Trenca posted a ninth-place result, which was his best finish at the track since August 2016 when he ended eighth.
Last weekend began on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where Trenca soaked up as much as he could during the 410ci winged sprint car show. He placed sixth in a heat race before finishing 19th in the main event.
“We learned a lot and that was the whole mission of racing at Williams Grove,” he said. “It’s a challenging track and we don’t have a lot of laps there so it’s important that we get more seat time and learn every time we hit the track.”
Trenca is slated to race in the 410 class at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., this Friday before joining the Patriot Sprint Tour on Saturday at Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, N.Y. It will be his debut at Lernerville Speedway. Trenca placed a career-best seventh at Woodhull Raceway last season.
