Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 9, 2018) – Scott Bogucki got to check off a bucket list item last weekend when he made his racing debut in Central Pennsylvania.
The results were very encouraging for Bogucki and the SawBlade.com backed team as they competed last Friday at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg before venturing to Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday.
“I’ve always wanted to race in Central Pennsylvania,” he said. “Williams Grove was a huge learning experience with the tight corners and long straights. We screwed up on the setup for the heat and that pretty much ruined the night. We did go a lot better in the B Main and missed the A Main by three positions. I learned a lot about this J&J car.
“Selinsgrove was a great track and we were able to qualify for the A Main out of the heat and move forward from 12th to eighth. If I would have had another handful of laps I know I could have gotten a few more spots because we were running them down. The Pennsylvania guys are as tough as you hear about.”
The weekend propelled Bogucki, who is in his rookie year with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com, to eighth in the championship standings.
He is hoping to move up further during a three-race week that begins Wednesday at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., before Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., hosts a show on Thursday. I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., wraps up the weekend on Saturday.
“These are all smaller tracks, which I do better at,” he said. “I’ve been to I-30 once a couple of years ago for the Short Track Nationals and I didn’t have a very good time.”
Following this weekend, the ASCS teams will get ready for Speedweek next month when the tour takes them to six tracks in eight days.
“We need three good races and to finish each of them this weekend for points heading into Speedweek,” Bogucki said. “I should get my Maxim car back from the repair shop next week. We might do some 410 racing over the next three weeks as well.”
