Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (May 9, 2018) – Derek Hagar will attempt to defend his home turf this Saturday when the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com invades I-30 Speedway.
The quarter-mile oval in Little Rock, Ark., is a short two-hour drive from Hagar’s shop and it’s a bullring where he has plenty of experience.
“I’m pretty confident,” he said. “We haven’t been there this year. In previous years we’d have been there a couple of times by now. I’m looking forward to getting back to I-30 and seeing how we stack up with the national guys. The local competition versus the national competition is pretty stiff. It’s probably the most competitive combination that you’d see anywhere in the country. You have to be on your game and hopefully everything works out for us.”
Hagar has been one of the top contenders at I-30 Speedway, where he has won main events in five of the last seven seasons. Hagar has 11 podiums, 17 top fives and 33 top 10s in 43 races since 2011.
“We have a lot of experience there and I think it’s a track that benefits drivers with experience,” he said. “The goal is to be standing in Victory Lane at the end of the night and I think we have a team capable of accomplishing that.”
Hagar has recorded two career ASCS National Tour triumphs and his goal is to earn No. 3 this Saturday.
“That’d be a big confidence boost and a big financial help, too,” he said. “We haven’t raced near as much this year as in past years. It’d be nice to get things flowing in our racing account.”
