Inside Line Promotions – HARTFORD, Ohio (May 8, 2018) – Caleb Helms has a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader on tap this weekend at Eldora Speedway.

Helms is looking forward to the half-mile oval near Rossburg, Ohio, which offers the next opportunity to test and learn this Friday and Saturday.

“We’ve been struggling with the car lately so I’m looking forward to going somewhere different and that doesn’t count for points,” he said. “We can try a couple of different things with the setup and it isn’t risky.”

Helms said his team has struggled to find a good balance with his sprint car during the last few races, which was evident last Saturday at Sharon Speedway during an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event.

Helms qualified second quickest in his group, which lined him up on the inside of the second row for a heat race.

“I caught a rut on the bottom and lost some speed coming off the corner,” he said. “I got passed by the fourth and fifth-place drivers going into turn three. We never recovered that and ended up in the B Main.”

Helms finished fifth in the heat race, which was one spot shy of locking into the A Main. He was relegated to the B Main, but a seventh-place result forced the team to use a provisional to start at the back of the main event.

“In the feature we went the other way and started to make some ground the first five laps,” he said. “I felt like I had something to move forward with. We had an open red and made a couple of changes to the car hoping to get it even better, but after that I couldn’t find a good spot in the track.”

Helms ended with a 22nd-place result.

Last Friday’s All Star show at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., rained out and was postponed to June 1.
