Inside Line Promotions – CALIFORNIA, Mo. (May 8, 2018) – Brandon Hanks earned a much-needed podium finish last Sunday at Double X Speedway.

“I was glad to go there and work some kinks out with things we’ve had issues with lately,” he said. “We started the season out so strong. Normally that’s hard for me to do, but I got going pretty strong. It’s like we lost some speed there. We’ve been working on a couple of things to find our speed again and that’s why we went to Double X.”

Hanks maneuvered from sixth to third place in a heat race before advancing from fifth to third in the A Main.

“The A Main went well,” he said. “I was a little snug in the center of the corner. The stock cars wore out the middle of the track. There was a good cushion going in and hardly anything in the center and it comes back at you exiting the corner. Whenever I’d get to the center of the corner I’d push. I got up to second, but ended up losing one spot in traffic.”

The third-place result was a great finish to the weekend, which began the previous night at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with the ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region.

“We had a bad draw and passing was pretty hard, but there were some who could make it work,” he said.

Hanks advanced from ninth to seventh in the heat race, which relegated him to the fifth starting position in the B Main. However, the bottom row got a bad start and Hanks fought to claw back to a sixth-place ending.

“I lost a few spots at the beginning so it was good just to get back near where we started, but that didn’t earn a transfer into the main event,” he said. “We weren’t happy with Wheatland so we made the decision to go to Double X and see what our issues are. We still fought a couple of issues, but it was a much better car.”

Hanks is scheduled to compete this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
