Dover Records Two Top Fives While Learning New Engine

Inside Line Promotions – WAGNER, S.D. (May 8, 2018) – Jack Dover earned a pair of top-five finishes last weekend while trying to dial in a new opportunity.

“Rick Bowers put together a deal with Speedway Engines so I want to thank him,” he said. “This was an opportunity that came along so I’m going to run the motor some along with our Ford engine through Moss Racing Engines.”

Last Friday was Dover’s first time with the new engine and he was efficient throughout the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints show at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. He finished second in both a heat race and a dash before starting the A Main on the outside of the front row.

“We’re still trying to figure out the new car,” he said. “Everything is 180 degrees different than last year. We have a different chassis, torsion bars, etc., and now engine. We’re trying to figure out the fuel system on this motor. I think this is close, but we have some fine-tuning to do.”

Dover finished fourth during the main event, but more importantly learned about his new engine.

That learning continued on Saturday at Wagner Speedway during a Midwest Sprint Touring Series event. Dover won a heat race before he recorded a fifth-place finish in the A Main.

“I felt like the weekend went good,” he said. “We never hardly go back and are normally going forward. We just have to figure out what to do to get a little better. The car felt good. We’re just trying to fine-tune that motor. I think that’s part of the reason we didn’t win because we didn’t gear it right or fuel it right. I feel like we’re getting closer and a win is coming soon.”

Dover will return to action this Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com before competing at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., on Saturday.
