Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (May 8, 2018) – Joshua Shipley had another solid performance with the ASCS Southwest Region last Saturday when he gained six positions to earn a top-10 finish at Arizona Speedway.
“We had a solid run overall,” he said. “We got our Shaver engine back and it did not disappoint. We had a lot of power and it helped us maneuver through the field.”
Shipley didn’t draw a great pill so he started eighth out of nine cars in the heat race. He advanced one position on a track that was difficult to make passes.
“We didn’t make the redraw so that lined us up 12th for the feature,” Shipley said. “We went for 21 laps without a caution and we had made our way up to sixth by then.”
After a couple of late-race restarts, the team brought home a sixth-place finish. It marked Shipley’s seventh top-10 result of the season.
“Track position has been really important these last couple of races,” he said. “We didn’t have that so we just had to use our Shaver engine power and drive it to the front. The track was really heavy and we were hammer down the entire time.”
Shipley also noted how great the setup on the car was last Saturday.
“Alan (Verville) absolutely nailed it,” he said. “The car was so good and I could have put it anywhere. He made the perfect call.”
The Verville Motorsports team remains in third place in the 2018 ASCS Southwest Region championship standings entering the next race, which is this Saturday at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, Ariz.
