Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 7, 2018) – Alex Hill will return to a trio of familiar tracks this week after a challenging maiden visit to Pennsylvania for a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com and United Racing Club doubleheader last weekend.

The Battle of the Groves event got off to a rough start for Hill, who was involved in a hard crash during her qualifier on Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg.

“It was a tough weekend with both tracks being new to me and a strong field of competitors,” said Hill, who placed third in her heat race before the DNF in the qualifier ended the night early. “We were pretty fast at Williams Grove. I just made a driver error and got into the wall in the qualifier and wrecked the car. I felt especially bad for my crew because they had to work really hard to build a new car for the next night at Selinsgrove. I really appreciate their hard work.”

Hill lined up fourth in a heat race to open Saturday’s weekend finale at Selinsgrove Speedway.

“I had pulled away a bit and was running third when there was a caution,” she said. “I lost a couple of spots on the restart and finished fifth. It was really difficult to pass. It seemed like most of the passing was done on the starts and restarts.”

Her finish placed her 10th on the starting grid for a qualifier, which was where she finished.

“I passed a couple of cars at the start, but they got me back in turns one and two on the first lap and that’s where I ran the rest of the race,” she said. “We hurt our big track motor in the crash at Williams Grove so we had to use our backup motor, which is built for short tracks. That kind of hurt us at Selinsgrove.”

Hill started seventh in a B Main and was unable to advance her position after sustaining wing damage.

“Someone in front of me came to almost a complete stop and I hit them, damaging my nose wing,” she said. “That hurt the handling of the car a bit and I stayed in seventh to the finish.”

In spite of her issues, Hill enjoyed her time in Pennsylvania.

“I enjoyed the tracks and had fun,” she said. “It was just hard to be racy. Starting position was really important. I’m looking forward to racing at tracks I’ve been to before this week.”

Hill will continue in competition with the ASCS National Tour this week with races on Wednesday at Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan.; on Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.; and on Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
