26 Promotions – Casa Grande, AZ – (May 2, 2018) – Jarrett Martin strapped into a non-wing car for the first time in over two months on Saturday night at Central Arizona Speedway.

“I was excited to take the wings off for the first time in a while,” said Martin. “It’s definitely a different feeling and driving style, but I don’t feel like it took me too long to adjust back.”

After the two cars scheduled to start in front of him dropped out, Martin found himself on the pole for the start of heat one.

“I made a last-minute adjustment to the car before we went out and it made me a little too loose and we ended up second to Dale Eliason Jr.,” he said.

Martin was scored as going from fifth to second in his heat earning the third most passing points, placing him fourth to start the feature after the six-car invert.

“With Clay (Sprau) and Jr on the front row, I knew it was going to be tough to get by them for the win,” Martin explained. “I thought the track might hold up better than it did, so I didn’t tighten up the car too much, but that proved to be a mistake. However, I think Clay and Jr were getting loose as the race went on as well, so we were all still pretty even.”

Martin battled with Eliason Jr throughout the feature event while the two tried to take over the lead from Martin’s Streaker Racing teammate.

“After leading from the drop of the green, Clay got caught up in a lap car’s spin and got upside down,” he explained. “I saw almost the whole thing, and it was a really tough deal. Clay was going to earn his first win, and that was a hard way to go out.”

Martin regrouped following the red for the green-white-checkered finish.

“On the final restart, I figured I might as well take a chance for the win and lose second. So, I entered turn one high to try to cut down and get a run on the leader, but the door was open for the 41 and I couldn’t get back by him before the end,” he said. “Congrats to Dale and Jr on four in a row and I am glad Clay is okay after his flip. He will be back out in front in no time.”

Martin is back in the ASCS Southwest Wing Sprint Car this weekend at Arizona Speedway.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Streaker Racing, K Corp, Pace Chassis, My Race Pass, Paint by Steve, The Race Shack, and Bell Helmets for their continued support.
