26 Promotions – Casa Grande, AZ – (May 1, 2018) – For the first time at Central Arizona Speedway, and the first time in two months, the Power 600 Series drivers removed the wings and went non-wing racing Saturday night.

“I felt a little iffy about running non-wing since it’s been a couple of months and the first time on the new track,” said Eliason Jr. “We had a good pill draw that led to us starting on the outside of the front row in the first heat. My dad put a different non-wing set up in the car, and it felt pretty fast in hot laps, so I felt pretty confident going into our heat that I was going to be good. We got the jump on the pole sitter and led every lap of the heat to pick up the win.”

The Iceman’s second to first advancement in heat one was enough to secure a spot in the top six invert, placing him on the outside of the front row for the feature.

“My dad wanted to change the setup in the car for the main anticipating the track was going to change, but I told him just to make an air pressure adjustment, and it would be good,” he explained. “I was having a little trouble at the beginning of the race deciding where I wanted to put the car, but as the track was slicking off, I decided to run as close as possible to the bottom of the track to get the most grip.”

Eliason Jr ran the majority of the race in second, battling for the lead and fighting off challenges for his position. The race took an unexpected turn coming out of turn one as the field raced to the checkers.

“A car spun out sideways in front of the leader, and unfortunately Clay Sprau collided with him,” Eliason Jr explained. “I was able to avoid being collected in the incident by making an evasive maneuver to the right and off the track coming to a stop for the red flag. I was happy to see Clay climb out of his car under his own power as it looked like he took a wild ride. When the red flag was lifted, I resumed as the race leader to a green-white-checkered finish, and I was able to hold off the guys behind me, with a very loose race car, to pick up the win.”

Eliason Jr has now won all four Power 600 Series events at Central Arizona Speedway, a streak he hopes will continue when the series resumes on May 12th for the Rock N Roll Rumble.
