Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (April 30, 2018) – Greg Wilson tied his career-best mark at Cotton Bowl Speedway last Thursday, but that wasn’t the most important part of the three-race weekend.

“It was nice to race three races in a row,” he said. “That was huge for us to get some racing in to see what we needed to start working on.”

The busy weekend began at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, where rain postponed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show from Wednesday to Thursday. Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Alloy Wheels backed team progressed throughout the night before capping the action with a 15th-place finish – tied for his best-ever result at the oval.

“The track had a little more water down in it than what we thought so that caught us off-guard, but we did our best to learn throughout the night and run consistent laps,” he said.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway hosted the World of Outlaws the following two nights for the Texas Outlaw Nationals.

“It was nice to stay at a place two days in a row,” he said. “We improved a little bit all weekend. There were some things I needed to try and we did in the A Main on Saturday, which shot us in the foot. It was a good lesson learned regarding some things we can’t do with the tire package.”

Wilson improved his qualifying and heat race results from Friday to Saturday and he was on pace to better his 15th-place feature finish from Friday to Saturday before taking a swing at the setup during the finale.

“I have to make a lot of the decisions from the seat of my pants,” he said. “To be at the same place two days in a row and not have track size and shape changing it’s huge for us. In hindsight if we hadn’t changed anything after the heat on Saturday we probably had a good shot at a top 10. It cost us a couple of positions, but in racing sometimes you have to take some swings at it to learn and get better.”

Wilson will return to action with the World of Outlaws this Friday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., and Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., during the Outlaw Twister Showdown.

“Both of them should be fun race tracks,” he said. “I remember Lake Ozark Speedway wasn’t a big track, but it had a couple of grooves and was pretty fun. Salina Highbanks Speedway has been pretty fast the last couple of years. It reminds me of Atomic Speedway back home in Ohio.”

In addition to racing, Wilson has Hercules Tires dealership visits this Tuesday at Cook Tire and Service Center in Livingston, Texas, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and May 7 at Tire Pros Same Day Auto Repair in Tulsa, Okla., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
