Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 30, 2018) – Travis Rilat scored a top-five finish last Saturday during his first start at Knoxville Raceway since August 2014.

Rilat and BDS Motorsports capped the busy weekend with a solid performance at the half-mile oval, where a seventh-place qualifying result and fifth-place heat race finish lined the team up on the outside of the fifth row for the A Main.

“We’re trying to get tuned up on the big track for the August events,” Rilat said. “I’ve got a lot of laps around the place, but Bryan (Sundby) and I have to make things work together. I think we should be just fine.”

If Saturday was any indicator the duo will do well. Rilat advanced from 10th to fifth place, which marked his second top five of the season and was a great rebound from Friday’s race in Paducah, Ky.

“I didn’t get a good start in the heat race and fell back two spots,” he said. “We had to run the B Main. I was running in the transfer spot and going down the backstretch on the last lap we blew a tire so we had to take a provisional.”

Rilat placed seventh in a heat race before the DNF in the B Main on Friday at Paducah International Raceway during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com debut at the oval. Rilat capped the night by charging from 23rd to 13th in the main event. He was tied for the most cars passed.

“We had a decent car the whole time,” he said. “The start of the heat race was the key to the whole night. It just didn’t go our way.”

Rilat will venture further east this weekend to compete on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., during the Battle of the Groves with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.

He raced with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Williams Grove Speedway in 2005 and most recently visited the half-mile oval in 2011 when he placed seventh during a 360ci winged sprint car show. Saturday will mark his debut at Selinsgrove Speedway.

“We haven’t been out there for a little while,” he said. “It will be a tough weekend. It’ll be really competitive so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
