T.J. Buffenbarger, CRYSTAL, Mich. (July 17, 2010) - Dustin Daggett won Saturday’s Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP feature at Crystal Motor Speedway. Daggett took off from his outside front row position, held off a mid-race challenge from defending ASCS SOD champion Brett Mann, before pulling away to a sizeable advantage at the finish of the non-stop 25-lap feature.
“I ended up getting a really good start, but figured Brett (Mann) was still back there,” said Daggett in the pit area after the feature. “You can never tell who is back there, so I didn’t want to take it easy through the lapped traffic.”
Daggett and Mann started on the front row with Daggett taking the lead at the start. Mann went immediately to the very bottom of the track and drove a very smooth line to keep pace with Daggett. Midway through the feature Daggett encountered a pack of slower cars and Mann pulled right up on Daggett’s back bumper. Just as it appeared the race for the lead would intensify Daggett made a pair of breathtaking three abreast moves through traffic, once on the front straightaway and again on the backstretch that boxed Mann behind slower traffic while Daggett raced away.
From there Daggett was on cruise control winning his second event of the season at Crystal and fourth overall this season in ASCS SOD competition. Mann held on for the runner up position followed by Gregg Dalman, Gary Fast, and Davey Brown.
Brown, Dalman, and Daggett won heat race events while Mike Daggett won the fast car dash.
