Restrictor heats hit the surface first. Bush's Chicken heat #1 winner- Timothy Watson. Smileys Racing heat #2 winner- Ryder Laplante.
600's check in with 4 heats. Bush's Chicken heat #1 winner- Taylor Neilson. Lucas Oil heat #2 winner- Jarret Hjorth. Hyper Racing heat #3 winner- Dustin Davidson. Day Motorsports heat #4 winner- Mike Walling.
No 600's B-main tonight folks. All to the A main. The track surface is glistening. Rubber is going down. The engines hum on the hot grid. Down the chute & onto the track they go. It's go time.
The POWRi Lonestar 600's Ultrashield safety crew has beem working all night. Helping the track, along with their own. The boys are on the move. Clearing wrecks quickly. As well helping to clean up numerous oil spills. The hard work being dished out is not unnoticed.
Restrictors feature out first. Chase Hyland & Timothy Watson lead them to the green. Laps begin to count. Hyland leads. Watson holds second. Halfway. Kinsley Cook finds herself sitting sideways. Caution is out. Driver rejoins. Back to green. Hyland still out front followed by Watson. Ryder Laplante knocking on the door. Wyatt Wilkerson seeks it out. Laplante makes his move. Grabs second. Last lap, Stephen Yates spins as checkers fly. Race completes. Watson 3rd. Laplante 2nd. And Chase Hyland collects his very first win. Parking his #5 ride into the D1 Driven Midwest Performance victory lane! $300 going in his pocket & smile on his face!
Oh, 600's wherefor art thou? Let's roll. The crowd on the edge of their seats. The 24 car field enters the track. A slight delay brings out a instant red due to oil on the front stretch. Everyone refires. Ryder Laplante struggles & enters hot pit. The field carries on with a beautiful 4 wide salute. Laplante rejoins. But unfortunately has to give up his outside pole start for the tail. A broken throttle pedal taking the blame. Jarret Hjorth & Collin Traylor lead the pack to the green. The dust flys. The field spreads out. But the passing continues. Slide job city. Traylor out front. A slowing Albert Kelley at the 8 lap mark brings out caution #1. Driver exits. Back to racing. Hjorth is hunting down 1st from 2nd. Taylor Neilson holds onto 3rd. Tanner Dunlap is charging from the rear. Nearly half the pack, he has passed. Lap 11, Preston Perlmutter after working to pass 5 cars, attempts to exit to the infield. Unfortunately, the caution flys due to safety. Back to it. More laps counted. Traylor still leads. Jacob Lucas now up to 3rd from 11th. Weldon Buford finds himself going into a slow spin entering turn 4. Regroup, it's green again. Passing, slide jobs. Just a few short laps in Weldon Buford takes a soft roll into turn 1. Driver checks out okay & concludes his night. 21 of 25 laps down. Lucas now into 2nd. Traylor blows. Into the infield it sends him. Jacob Lucas takes in his 2nd feature win for the 2018 season so far. Parks his #57 ride in the D1 Driven Midwest Performance victory lane. $750 cash is all his for the taking!
