USAC Triple on Deck for Sunshine after No Way Out 40 Top Five

Lonnie Wheatley, INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 27, 2018) – A busy weekend of action awaits Tyler Courtney with a pair of USAC National Sprint Car events on Friday and Saturday before his first Silver Crown competition of the young season on Sunday.

It begins Friday night with Sunshine and the Clauson-Newman-Marshall Racing Priority Aviation No. 7bc Sprint Car team taking to Bloomington Speedway before moving on to Haubstadt’s Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night. Courtney will finish out the weekend aboard Hans Leins’ No. 97 USAC Silver Crown entry at the Terre Haute Action Track.

Courtney raced to a top-ten finish in USAC Indiana Sprintweek action at Bloomington last year while also picking up a Midget Week win atop the picturesque clay oval. He also scored a pair of top-five finishes in his most recent pair of Tri-State Speedway outings.

Sunday’s Sumar Classic at Terre Haute will mark Courtney’s first Silver Crown outing since finishing off the 2017 season with a triumph in Eldora’s Four Crown Nationals.

Sitting third in USAC National Sprint Car points after the season0-opening triple in Florida where he topped two of three features, Courtney finally got back into Sprint Car action with last Friday night’s No Way Out 40 at Brownstown Speedway.

Courtney made the most of the non-sanctioned event, winning his heat race and then posting a fourth-place finish for his second consecutive No Way Out 40 top-five run.

With last Saturday’s scheduled USAC Sprint Car card falling victim to wet grounds at Montpelier, Courtney and the Clauson-Marshall Racing Driven2SaveLives/Indiana Donor Network No. 7bc Midget mad the last minute decision to dash down to Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway for a POWRi Midget clash.

Courtney won his heat race from a front row outside starting position to earn the eighth slot in the feature starting grid. After cutting a tire early, Courtney rallied back through the field and was battling for the lead and a potential fourth overall win of the year when his left rear tire fell victim of an abrasive surface mere laps away from the checkered flag.

2018 Quick Stats: 13 races, 3 wins, 7 top-fives, 7 top-tens.
