Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 24, 2018) – Robbie Price is pleased with his debut at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday during the track’s 65th annual season opener.

The night began with Price and the BDS Motorsports team qualifying second quickest – less than two hundredths of a second behind quick time – out of the 26 competitors at the half-mile oval.

“I was really happy with where we qualified,” Price said. “I bobbled a little in turns one and two and left a little on the table. Otherwise I think we could have had quick time.”

Price then maneuvered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race.

“In the heat I tried to make a move on the start,” he said. “We got up to fourth right away. The top three pulled away, but I got back to them with two laps to go. They were jockeying around a bit so I sat back. I didn’t want to screw up fourth. If I was a little more comfortable I probably would have tried to make a move for third.”

An eight-car inversion lined Price up on the inside of the fourth row for the 18-lap A Main.

“I got shuffled to ninth at the start,” he said. “I struggled with making consistent laps on the bottom. One time I slipped up coming off turn four and two cars got by me. It was a great learning experience. You have to be so consistent. That’s one thing I tried to work on in the main event.”

Price ran inside the top 10 for most of the race before losing a couple of positions during a late-race restart to end 12th.

He is slated to compete this Friday at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Ky., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com before returning to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.

“I’m really excited to get back to Knoxville,” he said. “I learned a lot. I’m looking to apply that early in the night and try to be more consistent. The car was really good and we had good speed so I think we’ll improve each time out.”
