Inside Line Promotions – PEVELY, Mo. (April 23, 2018) – Kerry Madsen will be vying for a lot of money this weekend when he tackles the $100,000-to-win Sprint Car World Championship.
The inaugural event is Friday and Saturday at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio, where Madsen will make his debut.
“It’s exciting that someone is stepping up to the plate to make another big sprint car event,” he said. “I’m ready to go and compete. The money is the attraction for going, but at the same time it’s exciting to go race against some of the top competition.”
The Big Game Motorsports driver competed twice last weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. The action began on Friday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., where the Muddy backed team qualified 22nd overall.
Madsen maneuvered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the A Main. He advanced into the top 10 before contact with another driver resulted in a spin. That forced Madsen to restart at the back of the field and he rallied back to a 14th-place result.
Saturday showcased similar fortunate at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, where Madsen qualified seventh quickest in his group before he placed third in a heat race to lock into the ninth starting position for the Spring Classic main event. He was running inside the top 10 when an early incident brought out a caution. Madsen restarted at the tail and ended the race 18th.
“For our standards it was a disappointing weekend,” he said. “We struggled to put a whole night together. We’re just ready to get back at it.”
Sunday’s event at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., rained out.
