(Bill W) July 14, 2010 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will make their annual appearance at one of their favorite stops on Thursday night, July 15. In conjunction with the Cedar County Fair in Tipton, Iowa, they will race for the fourth time in series’ history on the ¼ mile Cedar County Raceway.
The Sprint Invaders have been highly competitive in 2010, and in nine features contested so far, there have been eight different winners. Ben Wagoner picked up his first career win with the series last Friday night. The 2009 Rookie of the Year found Victory Lane at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa.
There have been three different winners in the first three visits to Tipton as well. In 2007, “Flyin” Ryan Jamison picked up the win, followed by “Lil’ Dude” Bobby Mincer in 2008 and “The Gas Man” Jack Dover in 2009. The banked ¼ mile is always fun for both the drivers and the fans.
Matt Sutton leads the current point chase with the series. Two-time series’ champion, Jamison, is just six points behind, and 2007 champ “Showtime” Kaley Gharst lurks in third, just 13 points out of the lead. Donnie Steward and Wagoner complete the top five in points, and all are expected in Tipton.
Hot laps get underway at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. The Cedar County Fairgrounds are on the west side of Tipton at 1195 220th Street. For more information, visit www.CedarCountyFair.net!
