Inside Line Promotions – CLAY, N.Y. (April 11, 2018) – Joe Trenca will kick off his season this Saturday at Port Royal Speedway during an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event.
The Mucci Motorsports driver has increased his number of 410ci winged sprint car starts each of the last four seasons and he will focus on that division this year.
“This offseason we did a good job,” he said. “We changed our whole program around. My 360 program and 410 program couldn’t be any further apart. We switched chassis and have a different shock package. We’re trying some things we’ve learned the past couple of years. It’s really about learning the equipment you need and that’s not something you learn overnight. I really have a positive attitude going into this season.”
Trenca raced at Port Royal Speedway six times last season with a career-best result of 15th.
“The facility is great,” he said. “I absolutely love the place and the hospitality we get. Everyone thanks us for coming after the races. That alone is worth us traveling six hours down there. It’s a big, fast track and a place like Selinsgrove. We usually run well there because I think it fits my driving style.”
Trenca made his 410ci winged sprint car debut in 2014. He competed in the class six times in 2015, nine times in 2016 and 14 times last year.
“We’ve gone from focusing on 360s and filling in our schedule with 410 races to now focusing on 410s,” he said. “This is an exciting year and we can’t wait to get going this weekend at Port Royal.”
