Inside Line Promotions – YORK HAVEN, Pa. (April 11, 2018) – Trey Starks has a busy weekend in Central Pennsylvania on tap.
The Gobrecht Motorsports driver will tackle an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions tripleheader with races on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal and on Sunday at Bedford Speedway in Bedford.
“I’m looking forward to running these races,” he said. “We’ve had good success at all three tracks and we’ve time trialed well at all three. I think we’ve set ourselves up for success.”
Starks captured his first career win in Central Pennsylvania last year during an All Star show at Bedford Speedway.
The team is coming off a long weekend of racing along the East Coast. The action began last Friday at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., during a USCS Series race. Starks advanced from seventh to fifth place in a heat race and he won the B Main to transfer into the 15th starting position in the A Main.
“The track conditions weren’t quite ideal so they ended up cutting the race 10 laps short,” he said. “We were picking off cars as fast as we could, but ran out of laps.”
Starks rallied to post a seventh-place finish. He garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
Saturday’s USCS show at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, S.C., rained out so the team hustled north to race on Sunday at BAPS Motor Speedway.
“It was great to get to BAPS for the opening night,” Starks said. “We always enjoy racing there whenever we get the opportunity. We had a good heat race run to start the night. We lined up fourth and ran a close second. We had great speed and made it into the feature redraw.”
Starks pulled the No. 5 during the random redraw to line up on the inside of the third row for the A Main.
“We made a few adjustments trying to keep up with the race track, but we just went the wrong way and struggled in the A Main,” he said. “We came into the work area to change some things and it didn’t get much better. We went back out there and passed a couple of cars, but we still weren’t where we wanted to be. That happens time to time in racing. We’ll look into it this week to see if we can find why we struggled.”
Starks closed the weekend with a 12th-place result.
