Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (April 10, 2018) – Robbie Price recorded his career-best Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com feature finish twice last weekend during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals.
Price guided his BDS Motorsports entry to a ninth-place result both nights at Texas Motor Speedway, which moved him up to 12th in the ASCS National Tour championship standings.
“It gives me a ton of confidence,” he said. “The car was good all weekend and I made some good decisions. I passed cars when I had the opportunity to.”
Price passed a lot of cars all weekend. He advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race on Friday before he won a B Main to lock into the main event. Price then rallied from 18th to a ninth-place result to garner his first top 10 with the ASCS National Tour since June 2015.
“It was pretty good,” he said. “I was comfortable. I moved around a little bit and passed cars when I could. I wanted to keep my nose clean and drive it as hard as I could. We had a green-white-checkered restart and I was able to get Travis Rilat and Johnny Herrera on the last lap so that was a great finish.”
Price had a similar outing on Saturday when he finished fifth in a heat race and third in a B Main to advance into the back of the main event. He then maneuvered from 21st to ninth, which was tied for the second-most cars passed.
“I didn’t move around on the track enough early on,” he said. “The car was tight in turn one. I should have trusted the car earlier. I passed a couple of cars on the first couple of laps. Then I buffered there in the middle. Toward the end I moved up top and started moving forward.
Once I moved up the track I got rolling pretty good.”
Price is scheduled to compete at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this Saturday during the 65th annual Season Opener if the weather cooperates.
