The Scott Thiel Motorsports crew headed off to the Manitowoc County Speedway last Friday night hoping luck would actually turn around for them, as it has been rough the past few weekends of racing. Scotty drew a 5 pill which set him outside pole of the heat race event. The track was very heavy and at the start of the race Scotty was in second going into turn one. A small bobble cause him to drop to third place, and he stayed there for the remaining of the race. That finish would set him to start 12th in the nights A-Main event. The track began to dry out a good amount and starting 12th would be difficult to move forward. At the start, Scotty quickly passed two cars and ran in the 10th position for a few laps. Several cautions later the race stayed green for a while and Scotty began to pick car after car off and on lap 17 found himself sitting in the 5th position! Thiel moved to 3rd on a restart but then a caution came out, sending him back to the 5th spot again. The race was then called due to time issues and Thiel ended up finishing in the 5th spot. Scotty and the crew were very pleased with the performance. Not only coming from 12th but that was their first top 5 for the season. "It felt good to finish that race in the top 5, and actually have a good night for once." Thiel claimed.
Saturday night brought the STM team to the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. Scotty drew an 11 pill which set him on the pole of the heat race event. After getting the green, Thiel never looked back and took the checkered flag. With that heat race win, it would give Scotty the third place starting spot in the A-main. At the start of the 30 lap A-main event, Scotty stayed in the third spot for several laps. A few lap cars held Scotty up and he was passed by several cars. Thiel quickly made that ground back up and passed those car right back and ended up finishing in the 4th position for the night. The whole team was excited again for finishing the race and finishing well. That would make two top five finishes for the 64 sprint car for the weekend's race action.
Next week, STM will be traveling back to the Manitowoc County Speedway and the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. STM would like to thank all of their sponsors: Complete Water Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Advanced Compressor Technology, Rhey Graphics, Muehlberg's Fire Solutions, Fat Boys BBQ, Moyle Racing, Haven Bar & Grill, Kaemmer Foods, Tri-Flow Lubricants, and DWT Racing!
