Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (April 3, 2018) – Trey Starks produced one of his finest performances at Williams Grove Speedway last Friday night to kick off a doubleheader in Central Pennsylvania.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver maneuvered from 10th to fifth place in a heat race, which locked him into the 14th starting position for the A Main.

“We missed hot laps because of some mechanical problems,” he said. “It was really good to run that well in the heat since it was the first time we were on the track in a month and a half. Williams Grove is tough to pass on so I was really pleased with our performance.”

Starks was just as effective in the main event.

“It was one of the more exciting first five laps I’ve had on a race track,” he said. “There was stuff going on all around us. We had two interesting restarts and had to avoid some cars. We had a car with a flat left rear that was all over the place, but we benefitted from it. The whole race we were good and able to pass cars. You had to be fast and keep your nose clean at the same time.”

Starks rallied from 14th to a fifth-place finish, which marked his first top five of the season.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, where Starks qualified sixth quickest. He then placed second in a heat race and lined up on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.

“We picked up a couple of spots on the start,” he said. “We were racing really hard with Parker Price-Miller and got caught up in a racing deal. He ended up sliding me and got crossed up in front of us. That got us slowed up and we got ran over from behind. It ended our night, but it was good to know we had speed and were competitive.”

Starks was credited with a 23rd-place finish after the early race-ending incident.

He is slated to compete this Friday at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., and Saturday at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, S.C., with the USCS Series. Starks won at both tracks in 2016.
