Inside Line Promotions – GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (March 26, 2018) – Brian Brown will make his first start at 81 Speedway since 2016 when he invades the bullring in Park City, Kan., this Friday and Saturday during the 8th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout.
“We’ve been pretty good there,” he said. “It’s an event that keeps growing. It started out as $7,000 or $8,000 to win and now it’s $13,000 to win. I look for 40-to-50 cars so we’ll have our work cut out for us.”
Brown has been a contender in nearly every race he’s tackled at the semi-banked oval, including a trip to Victory Lane in 2008. Brown has raced at 81 Speedway seven times since the triumph, earning three podiums, five top fives and six top 10s during that span.
“It’s a little unique,” he said. “It has two ends and races a little different every time you go there. I’ve been there when it’s been heavy with a cushion and I’ve been there when it’s ice slick from top to bottom. It’s always really wide though.”
Brown competed in the Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout in March 2016. He placed fifth during the opening night before recording a third-place finish during the finale.
“We weren’t too good the first night and struggled all night to get our balance,” he said. “The second night we were pretty good. I think we started eighth or ninth and were able to get up there before it laid rubber. If you have your car operating you can make lines work that maybe other people can’t.”
This weekend’s shows will also mark his first 360ci winged sprint car starts of the season.
“We don’t get to run the 360 very often, but when we do we’re pretty quick out of the box so it will be fun to spend a weekend racing the 360,” he said.
