[b PETALUMA, CA (7-3-10) -] For the second week in a row, Fremont's Shane Golobic was celebrating in victory lane of a Northern California dirt track Saturday night. One week after his first career win at Placerville Speedway, Golobic added a Civil War Series victory to his resume with a win at Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night.

"Things have been going really well for us the past few weeks," said Golobic, who won aboard the Golobic Motorsports #121 sprint car on Saturday night and John Taylor Motorsports #35 one week earlier. "This win tonight is a big win for me."

Golobic started on the outside of the front row for Saturday's 30-lap feature event outside of Geoff Ensign. At the waving of the green flag Golobic grabbed the lead from Ensign and was soon challenged by third place starter Mike Henry of Sacramento.

After leading the first 15-laps of the event, Golobic was forced to turn up the heat when Henry moved in to take the lead. Henry led the next 10-laps of the event with Golobic on his tail. With just five laps to go Henry suffered a spin out in the second turn of 3/8 mile oval and Golobic redeemed the lead he would never relinquish.

In the final laps of the race Golobic was pressured by the top runners of this competitive series. Defending two time Civil War champion Sean Becker of Antelope started fifth in the race and closed in on Golobic for second place in the closing laps. Herman Klein of Sacramento started sixth and finished third over Stephen Allard of Chico who started fourth. Mason Moore of Princeton finished fifth after starting seventh.

Saturday's event was a tough run for series point leader Andy Forsberg. After a damaging crash in the preliminary events, Forsberg drove to victory in the B feature over Nicole Miller, Ryan Gomes, Chris Masters and Chase Johnson. In the A-feature Forsberg finished 12th overall which will result in the tightening of the point standings.

In preliminary action in Saturday's event, heat races were won by Becker, Cody Lamar, Henry and Jeremy Burt. Fast time was scored by Camron Mendes who turned a 12:592 second lap. The next Civil War series event will take place on July 16th with Ocean Speedway on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville. A total of 30 drivers turned out for Saturday's event in Petaluma. The Civil War Series will return to the North Bay on Saturday, July 24th and August 6th.
