Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (March 20, 2018) – Robbie Price made an impression during his debut at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last Friday.
Price, who is a contender for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Presented by SawBlade.com Rookie of the Year Award, kicked off the season-opening race by maneuvering his BDS Motorsports entry from fifth to third place in a heat race.
“I got one position on the start and passed one later in the race,” he said. “I moved around the track to find more speed. I felt comfortable and the car was great.”
The result earned Price a spot in the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 5 to start the A Main on the inside of the third row.
“A couple of cars in front of me got squirrely on the start so I went in low to turn one,” he said. “Another driver and I made contact and I spun around. We had to restart at the back, but we were caught up in another incident on the opening lap so we had a DNF.”
Price dove low in turn two on the restart to avoid another car, but he clipped an infield tire and got upside down. He was unable to restart the race and was credited with a 22nd-place finish.
“The night went pretty good until the A Main,” he said. “I made the show, which is the main goal. I felt like we had good speed so that’s great to know moving forward.”
Saturday’s show rained out.
Price will be off the next couple of weeks before resuming competition on April 6-7 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
