Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (March 19, 2018) – Alex Hill overcame cold and flu-like symptoms to earn a top-20 finish last Friday night during the 45th annual Spring Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

“I had been sick since Tuesday,” she said. “It bothered me some since I was coughing and sneezing a lot. And there were a couple of times when I felt nauseous. But I got through it and it turned out all right.”

The evening’s draw slotted Hill in the sixth starting spot of her Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com heat race.

“The car ran well and I was able to move up to fourth, which would have locked us into the A Main,” she said. “But then I dropped back one spot so I had to run the B.”

Being the highest in points of those not qualifying for the A Main placed Hill on the pole for the B Main.

“It didn’t go so well,” she said. “The car was a little loose and I dropped back a bit. I got some momentum later in the race when I was in fourth, but after a restart near the end I lost a couple more spots. But we still qualified for the A Main, which was our goal.”

Securing the sixth-and-final transfer spot for the A Main placed Hill in the last starting position in the 22-car field for the night’s main event. She rallied to post a 16th-place result.

“The A Main went pretty well,” she said. “I think that was the most comfortable that I’ve felt in the car when I’ve raced at Devil’s Bowl. The car was set up great and I was pretty consistent with my laps. I was running the high side until I moved to the bottom during the last few laps when the track took rubber. I was happy that I changed my line at the right time.”

Hill will follow the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour to its next scheduled event, which is April 6-7 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.
