2018 will be an exciting time for young fourteen-year-old AJ Harbaugh.
The McKenzie Bridge pilot will be strapping up and getting behind the wheel a full-sized Sprint Car for the first time in his life becoming, no doubt, a driver to keep a close eye on at dirt tracks in the Pacific Northwest. The team plans on competing at Cottage Grove Speedway, Southern Oregon Speedway, and will run with the Interstate Sprint Car Series.
“We are going to do what we can and make as many races as possible at Cottage Grove and ISCS this year,” commented Harbaugh, “I’m very excited to finally to be able to have a childhood dream come true.”
Racing for the past eight seasons, A.J., first started out in Kage Karts before moving into Micro Sprints. He has ran in the Micros the last three years and primarily competed in Central California where he would win three features, have seven fast time awards, and eighteen top fives. Last year he was seventh in overall points during California Speedweek. The team has already gotten the young Harbaugh some seat time at the practice date in February at Marysville Raceway in California.
“When we went to Marysville for practice it went really well. The car felt great and I adjusted to it pretty quickly.”
AJ Harbaugh plans to make his Sprint Car debut on Saturday, March 31st, weather permitting, at Cottage Grove Speedway. For the latest race updates visit their Facebook page and search for “Harbaugh Racing”.
