Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (March 12, 2018) – Alex Hill is eager to begin her quest for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com Rookie of the Year Award when the season kicks off this weekend at the 45th annual Spring Nationals.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, hosts the two-day event on Friday and Saturday.
“I’m really looking forward to starting the ASCS season at one of my favorite tracks,” she said. “I usually get around there pretty good. Devil’s Bowl is a fun place to race and they usually have it in pretty good condition.”
This will be the second consecutive year that the 18-year-old will start the season seeking the title. Last year’s pursuit of the goal ended early in the season when she was sidelined for much of the season due to injuries sustained in a racing accident.
This weekend’s race follows a promising start to the season for Hill, who competed at the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s hosted by East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla., last month. Hill qualified for the main event all three nights for the first time in her career.
She hopes to carry that momentum to Texas and looks to new teammate Sam Hafertepe Jr. to continue his aid in providing further improvement.
“Florida went really well for us,” she said. “It gives us a lot of confidence moving forward.
“Sam was a big help in Florida and I think he will be again this weekend, especially since we’re in Texas. He has a lot of experience at Devil’s Bowl since he’s from Texas and has raced there so much.”
