Tough Luck for Thiel lately

Over the past two weekends of racing, luck has not been on the side for Scotty Thiel. After having two DNF's back to back, Thiel is trying to figure out if luck will ever turn around.

Last Friday 6/18 at the Manitowoc County Speedway, Scotty started 16th in the A-main event. After a hard charging 15 laps, Thiel found himself sitting in 5th place. Just as hope was getting brighter, it turned around on him. On a restart, everyone checked up in turn one, Thiel pushed up the track and was working on getting the car to come back around when the front end hooked the cushion and turned the car sideways. After the car got sideways, about four other cars collected Thiel in a big pile up. That would be an end for Scotty after many parts were wrecked on the car.

The next following night at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds, didn't turn out as planned either. Scotty and the crew worked all day to prepare the car after the previous night wreck, but managed to get it all finished and to the track. In the heat race, the car did not feel good to Scotty and knew something needed to be fixed. " The car felt really bound up and dogged down in the corners." Thiel said. He was forced to run the B-main and ended up finishing 5th, just a spot away from the transfer position.

The crew worked hard all week long to prepare a picture perfect race car for Scotty. STM had only Manitowoc on the schedule this weekend as the IRA sprint cars came to town on Saturday at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. STM unloaded the car Friday will better hopes of last weekend. Scotty picked a 9 pill which set him outside pole of his heat race. Getting the early jump to the lead, Thiel never looked back, and took home the heat race victory. It was a big confidence booster after having the troubles previous weekends. The crew was very excited and waiting to see what the track was going to do for the A-main event. Scotty would start second row outside (4th) for the A-main, and was ready to move forward. It took Scotty a few laps to get a feeling for the car at the beginning of the Main but then started to move forward. Thiel was in the fifth position when he came into turn three and the car dropped on the Right Rear corner of the car. Scotty knew something was completely wrong and pulled off. Later discovering that the Jacobs ladder broke and then cut down the tire. It was overall a frustrating night, starting up that close to the front and having this mishap ruined the moment.

STM will work extremely hard this week and attempt to come back out for next weekends racing action at the Manitowoc Speedway and also at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. STM would like to thank their sponsors: Complete Water Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Advanced Compressor Technology, Rhey Graphics, Moyle Racing, Haven Bar & Grill, Kaemmer Foods, Todd Walber Construction, Tri-Flow Lubricants, DWT Racing, and Muehlbergs Fire Solutions.
