[b SEBASTOPOL, CA 6-19-10] - Last Saturday night Bradley Terrell had the opportunity to race with the series he loves at a track he had never been to. In the end, he chalked up the weekend as one of success for his family owned 360 sprint car team out of Sebastopol.
The venue for Terrell and his #43 sprint car was the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series. The stage was the scenic 3/8 mile American Valley Speedway in Quincy, a track Terrell had never ventured to in his young racing career.
"I've always wanted to go there but we never had," said Terrell. 'It's a pretty long haul for us but we liked it. The track is nice with a lot of potential. It slicked off a little quick this time but we were really happy with the way the trip went."
Competing against a field of 33 cars, Terrell garnered an impressive fifth place in qualifying when he turned a 16:973 second lap. He then had a successful run in his heat race driving from his fifth place starting position into third to qualify for the 30-lap feature event.
At the start of the feature race, Terrell took to the grid on the outside of the fourth row in the eighth place position. As the track became somewhat dry slick, Terrell found it difficult to move forward in the feature event as the race leaders took off and began dicing their way through lapped traffic early in the race.
When the checkered flag waved Saturday night, Steven Tiner had won the race and Terrell finished his night in the 11th place position. As a newcomer to the track that is still breaking in a new chassis, Terrell and his team were happy with the result of the trip.
"It was a tough track to move forward on," it went dry pretty quick on us and everyone got into the lapped traffic, said Terrell. "I just got to the point in the race where I did everything I could to maintain my position and we finished in 11th place. We were pretty happy with that since it was our first time here."
This weekend Terrell will take a break from his campaign in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series as the track will go dark to allow for the annual fair. He currently sits ninth in the Civil War Series standings. Next Saturday he will look for a home track victory when the Civil War Series competes at Petaluma Speedway for round six on the traveling tour.
