ORLANDO, FL – 2009 Top Gun Sprint Series Champion Ryan Partin took home his first feature win of the 2010 Top Gun Sprint Series season, also winning his heat race to make for a clean sweep of the race activities Saturday night at North Florida Speedway in Lake City, Florida.
“To be able to stand in victory lane for the first time this year on Father’s Day weekend, with my dad in victory lane with me, that makes this quite possibly my favorite win in my career,” said Ryan Partin. “Our Triple X Race Products chassis was hooked up all night and all of our long hours in the shop made this win doubly sweet.”
North Florida Speedway was the location for the fifth race of the Top Gun Sprint Series. With the threat of rain lingering over the track all day, it was a slim chance that the race would even happen, but thankfully it did.
“We came to the track with attitude that this was where we were going to take the points lead,” continued Partin. “For hot laps we just wanted to shake down the car after fitting it with some trick items from we got from Steele Performance Parts. The car was fast right off the trailer with the car being able to drive into the corner faster than ever. Between those parts, my K&N Filters, and my Sway-A-Way shocks bolted on to our trick Triple X Race Products chassis, we are in such a great place right now it’s amazing.”
After about an hour of downpours, the track made a decision to run the features, but with a shorter race due to the track's curfew. This had the team scrambling to study the track and make changes to their Triple X Race Products Chassis to compensate for the new race track we had.
“I had the prime starting spot on the pole and the track was just my style - tacky and heavy with a nice cushion to run against,” stated Partin. “At the drop of the green flag I took the lead in turn one and never looked back, leading every lap of the race. With this being the first win of the season for us, it was also where we took the lead in the Top Gun Sprint Series points for the first time in 2010.”
