Hill Set for Season Opener This Weekend at Marquee Event in Florida

Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (Feb. 13, 2018) – Alex Hill is looking forward to putting last year behind her as she begins her 2018 racing season this weekend at the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s hosted by East Bay Raceway Park.

She and her family owned team will tackle the bullring in Tampa, Fla., Thursday through Saturday. It will offer an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule, which begins next month.

Hill’s pursuit for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year title last season was derailed when a racing accident sidelined her for almost two months. She’s thankful for another shot at the award in 2018.

“I’m happy they’re letting us run for the rookie award again,” the 18-year-old said. “It was pretty disappointing when we couldn’t race for it last year.”

Hill is also excited to race with her new teammate, two-time defending ASCS National Tour champion Sam Hafertepe Jr.

“I think it’s going to be great to have Sam around to help me,” she said. “He’s very good at so many things in racing. I still have a lot to learn in racing. I’m really looking forward to learning from him.”

The journey starts this weekend at East Bay Raceway Park, a track across the country from where she attends college in Los Angeles. That means a 1 a.m. flight on Thursday morning to arrive in time to race.

“I’ve raced at East Bay a couple of times,” she said. “The first time was in a 600cc micro. It’s a fast track. I liked racing there. I’m just really excited to get behind the wheel again.”
