Inside Line Promotions – BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2018) – Greg Wilson is pleased with the opening round of his 2018 season.

The Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Alloy Wheels backed team made it through the grueling DIRTcar Nationals last weekend without a failure, which is often the biggest obstacle during the first World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event of the season because of the fast track and changing weather conditions.

“It was good to get on the track, knock the rust off and get back in the swing of things,” Wilson said. “I want to thank Matt, Ed and Ricky for their hard work this weekend. We made a lot of changes during the winter and had to work through that. Everything we changed held up good. Now we can regroup and try to fine-tune and get better instead of worrying we’ll have failures. That’s huge to come out of Volusia and not have torn up engines or race cars.”

Wilson and the team competed last Friday through Sunday at Volusia Speedway Park, which was the lone visit to Florida this season. Wilson progressed throughout each night and moved forward in the A Main all three nights to give the team momentum out of the gate.

“Volusia Speedway Park is probably the toughest track on engines so to come out of there unscathed is huge,” he said. “We played it a little safe and that probably hurt our results, but the bigger picture is to make it through the weekend clean and we did that.”

Wilson has a couple of upcoming Hercules Tires dealership visits in Florida this week before he returns to World of Outlaws competition Feb. 23 at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, and Feb. 24 at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, for the East Texas LoneStar Shootout.
