Inside Line Promotions – BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2018) – Caleb Helms used four nights during the DIRTcar Nationals as a test session to prepare his team for the upcoming Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions season.

“It always helps us during the All Star season when we head to Florida,” he said. “It’s a good time to knock the rust off and to learn what we can before the points season begins.”

Helms and the team battled throughout the first four nights of the five-day event before a mechanical problem sidelined them for the finale on Sunday. The team headed home early, but expects to return to action in the next couple of weeks once racing begins in Central Pennsylvania.

“We’re going to stay active as much as we can during the next couple of months before the All Star season starts in Ohio,” he said. “I think that will benefit our team in the aspect that we’ll get to try some things and it will help me get into a rhythm before races count for points.”

The first All Star points show is April 6 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Helms is hopeful the team will find more speed on the heels of the DIRTcar Nationals, where being a couple of tenths off in qualifying hampered the team each night. Helms either maintained his starting position or moved forward in every race, but the qualifying results started him near the back of the pack almost every time out.

“It’s pretty difficult to dig yourself out of a hole when you’re racing with All Star and World of Outlaws drivers,” he said. “We obviously wanted to leave Florida with better results, but the main objective was to learn and test. It’s the same objective we’ll have when we race in Central Pennsylvania in the next few weeks before we begin points racing.”
