GOSHEN, NEW YORK (February 6th, 2018)-
Ryan Quackenbush from Goshen, NY will take the wings off his 358 sprint car and run with the USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series in 2018. Ryan and his family plan on taking to the road and chasing the inaugural points title. This team is no stranger to the road, taking the almost weekly four hour drive to south/central PA. “The series works for us financially, only being 10 shows. We are excited to travel and see new tracks we might not have otherwise been able to see.”
Quackenbush, 17, said he started racing at eight years old when his family was looking for something to do together. “We were looking for something to get our minds off everything when my sister, Tasia, passed away. So we found karts and started racing.”
Nine years later, Ryan has had seat time in Slingshots, 600cc micro sprints, and 358 sprints. In 2015 he was the Rookie 600 Champion at the Hamlin Speedway 1/5th mile dirt oval. Quackenbush has also been a micro sprint front runner at the Action Track USA, Linda’s Speedway, and Spirit Auto Center Speedway.
“I learned how to race without a wing. I have raced the micro with a wing but I really love the wingless stuff,” Quackenbush says. Most may assume that the biggest jump from micros to full size sprint is the power, but Ryan explains that wasn’t the case for him.
“The wing was the biggest learning curve for me. It also doesn’t matter that we are technically underpowered with the 358. It’s not a motor game with the wingless stuff, it’s a driver game.”
Making this possible for Quackenbush is his primary sponsor, Cool Way Direct, as well as Sienkwcz Contracting, Expert Mechanical, JPK Environmental, Delancy’s Restaurant, and his parents, Rae and Sharon.
