Inside Line Promotions – OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2018) – Trey Starks is excited to compete five straight nights at the same track this week when the Gobrecht Motorsports team invades Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., for the DIRTcar Nationals.

It will mark his debut at the half-mile oval, which features Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions races on Wednesday and Thursday before a trio of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series shows Friday through Sunday.

“It’s great for our team to be at the same track five straight nights,” Starks said. “Most times in racing you don’t get many opportunities to try multiple things and use what you learned at a track right away. A lot of times an event is only one night or two, but five nights in a row gives us plenty of opportunity to learn.”

It also is an opportunity to erase a sour taste created during the Bubba Army Winter Nationals last weekend at Bubba Raceway Park. Starks opened the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions tripleheader on Thursday by qualifying fifth quickest in his group. A fifth-place result in a heat race locked him into the 18th starting position in the A Main.

“We worked our way into the top 10, but got caught up in a crash during the second half of the race so we had a DNF,” he said. “I felt like we made a lot of progress throughout the night despite not getting the result we were aiming for.”

Starks was credited with a 15th-place finish.

He returned to the unique track the following night and timed in fourth quickest in his group before placing fourth in a heat race. Once again, that locked him into the main event, but the team struggled on the tricky track and finished 20th.

The event wrapped up on Saturday with Starks qualifying seventh quickest in his group. He ended seventh in a heat race and sixth in the B Main to miss a transfer into the main event by only two positions.

“We’re looking forward to putting last weekend behind us and moving on to Volusia,” he said. “Everyone on this team works extremely hard so I know we’ll have a better time this week. Hopefully we can progress each night and build momentum.”
