Mother Nature finally allowed racing action to take place at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds on Saturday June 12th. Scotty drew a number 2 pill which set him on the Pole of the first heat race. After taking the green flag, Scotty never looked back and won the heat by a large margin. Although Scotty won the heat, the crew had some work to get done. With two laps to go in the heat, a valve cover came loose on the car, and release a decent amount of oil. The crew put in new oil, tightened everything up, and prepared for the A-main event. Scotty would start third for the A and had very high hopes for a good finish. Taking the green for the A-main event, Scotty quickly charged into the second position. Going into turn three, Thiel took the bottom groove and was ready to make the pass for the lead, when the leader spun out and collected Scotty in the mishap. After getting taken back to the work area on the wrecker, the STM crew discovered there was a lot more damage done than just a tire. The jacobs ladder was crushed, along with two bent arms, and a broken shock. Thiel would be done for the night, and forced to watch the remaining part of the race in the pits.
The heat race victory was a very good boost for the night, but the A-main crash was a complete let down. Scotty and the STM crew will put the car back together for this weekend's racing action at the Manitowoc County Expo Speedway on Friday, and back to the Sheboygan County Fairgounds on Saturday. STM would like to thank all of their great sponsors: Complete Water Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Advanced Compressor Technology, Todd Walber Construction, Rhey Graphics, Moyle Racing, Kaemmer Foods, Haven Bar and Grill, Douglas Wheel Technology, Tri-Flow Lubricants, and Muelhberg's Fire Solutions. Again, thanks to Jeff and Todd for their continued support at the track.
