Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (January 24, 2018) The first look at the 2018 lineup for the ASCS Southwest Region has been released with 18 dates on the schedule and the chance for two more to be added as tracks confirm their availability.
Kicking off March 3, 2018, at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, the series heads for the first of eight appearances at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek on March 24. Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande is set to round out the month on March 31.
April 21 at Arizona Speedway is followed quickly by a return visit on May 5. Back at Central Arizona Speedway on May 12, the series makes its lone trek to the Southern New Mexico Speedway on May 26 and May 27 for the “Salute to Indy” with each night paying $2,500 to win.
June 30 back at Arizona Speedway will be followed by a break in competition as the brutal summer heat sets in. Returning with two nights at Show Low Speedway Park in Show Low, Ariz. on September 1 and September 2, the series returns to the Phoenix metropolitan area with Arizona Speedway on September 15, then again on October 6. The season’s final appearance at Canyon Speedway Park follows on October 13.
Down to the final four rounds of competition in November, the series will head to Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz. on November 17 and November 18. Setting up for the final weekend of the season, the Copper Classic at Arizona Speedway is slated for November 23 and 24 with the Friday portion paying $2,500 to win, while Saturday will again see the winner pocketing $5,000.
With the departure of Roger Toops as the series director in 2017, the series will be headed over by Arizona Speedway promoter, Jonah Trussel with assistance from Jason Rominger. The arrangement will be in place until a full-time Competition Director can be found. ASCS format, rules, and tech will be enforced.
