Inside Line Promotions – BURLISON, Tenn. (Jan. 8, 2018) – Brandon Hanks can hardly wait to make his Chili Bowl Midget Nationals debut this week.
Hanks will drive for Chris Chappue during the 32nd edition of the marquee event, which features his preliminary night on Wednesday leading into Saturday’s finale inside the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla.
“I can’t even focus at work I’m ready to get there,” Hanks said. “Ever since we got the news the days get slower and slower. Thankfully it’s almost here. I’m ready to get there and get unloaded and practice to get some laps under my belt.”
Hanks hasn’t piloted a midget in real life, but has tried to make the most of racing one online via iRacing.
“I’ve been going home and running 100 laps every night on the shortest track that iRacing offers,” he said. “I’ve also been watching videos trying to learn.”
Hanks said he is entering the event with an open mind and hopes to progress each time he hits the track.
“It’s tough going to an event like this, especially when you haven’t driven a midget before,” he said. “There are a lot of things to overcome. I want to thank Chris for the opportunity. Hopefully we can put together a solid week and have a good time.”
