Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (Nov. 7, 2017) – Alex Hill is looking to close the 2017 racing season on a positive note this weekend when she competes with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz.
While the 17-year-old has visited Cocopah Speedway before, the action Thursday through Saturday will be her first time in competition there.
“I’ve been there two or three times to watch,” she said. “It’s a cool track. It’s big and it usually seems to slick off. I don’t really care for slick tracks so that will be a challenge for me. But I need to get better on slick tracks, so if that’s what it is it will be good experience for me.”
Hill has a goal in mind for the weekend with regards to the high competition level of the ASCS National Tour regulars who will be joined by other competitors from the region.
“Things haven’t really gone our way this year so it would be nice to end it with a good weekend,” she said. “It sounds like there could be quite a few cars there. It would be nice if we could make the A Feature. That’s something we haven’t been able to do recently.”
This weekend will mark the longest tow for her racing team from its shop in Canada, although it will be a relatively short trip for Hill.
“I think it’s about a 39-hour trip from our shop to Cocopah, but it’s a lot closer for me this time, maybe about four-and-a-half hours,” said Hill, who is currently attending college in Los Angeles.
