Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 7, 2017) – Jason Sides passed 22 cars during the two Textron Off Road World Finals main events last weekend at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Unfortunately, both nights of charging forward during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series marquee event came on the heels of sour qualifying results. Sides opened the weekend on Thursday by qualifying 16th quickest in his group for Friday’s program and 14th quickest in his group for Saturday’s show.

“I thought we’d be decent,” he said. “It seemed like the later it went the better the track got. The second time it was the same thing. When we went out it was sixth quick. And then the top got cleaned off and had more grip because they got faster and faster.”

Sides placed sixth in a heat race and rallied from 13th to seventh in the Last Chance Showdown to miss a transfer by only one position. That forced him to use a provisional to start 28th in the main event.

“We were pretty good,” he said. “I drove up to 13th before the last restart. We had worn the tires out and a couple of cars got back by us at the end.”

Sides ended with a 15th-place result.

Saturday’s season finale played out similar as Sides finished fourth in a heat race to miss a lock-in position to the A Main by only one spot. He then placed 14th in the Last Chance Showdown and used a provisional to start the main event 26th.

“It was like the tires sealed over and got cleaned off,” he said. “We moved forward early and then went backwards for a while. Then the last four or five laps it got really good again. We passed a few cars back, but it wasn’t enough.”

Sides maneuvered to a 17th-place finish. He finished the season 11th in the championship standings – only two points (one position) behind 10th place.
