“The Edge” Sizzles at Lincoln
By Gary Costa
Mechanicsburg, PA - Abottstown, PA - (May 28-29, 2010) --- Brian Montieth would look to compete in two of the six race Keystone Cup Series. While Williams Grove’s event would fall victim to weather, “The Edge” attacked Lincoln’s 3/8-mile dirt oval like a rabid dog.
Brian’s evening started out with him wheeling the Jerry Parrish-owned No. 21 to become the 13th quickest car out of a stout 37 car field. Brian went out and drilled the Lincoln Speedway racing surface by winning an entertaining high-speed heat race after shooting out in the lead from his second starting spot.
The fan favorite and track point’s leader would start third in the 30-lap feature event. The gloves came off in a hurry with Daryn Pittman getting the jump this one. But, Montieth would have none of this, and proceeded to wheel the Premier Auto Works Racing mount to the top-spot during the second go around. Heavy lapped traffic would come into play on the 18th lap, and Pittman was able squeak back by Brian. It was far from over however, as the cagey driver from Phoenixville was determined to keep Pittman in his crosshairs.
The two drivers raced each other hard but clean throughout the remainder of the exhilarating event. Coming to the white flag, Brian wouldn’t make it easy for the driver in the Heffner No. 27, as he was right on Pittman’s bumper when they crossed the line, putting a period on the wild evening.
