Inside Line Promotions – SPRINGFIELD, Neb. (Oct. 24, 2017) – Jack Dover has high aspirations and expectations entering each sprint car season.

Dover scored his 100th career winged sprint car triumph in 2016, when he posted his ninth straight season with at least nine feature victories. Unfortunately, that streak was halted this year because of a season of bad luck.

“It was awful in capital letters,” he said. “Honestly it was probably the worst season I’ve had in my racing career. It started off bad. We had a decent two or three months and then the bad luck hit us again to end the year. We didn’t do anything different from year’s past. We bought all new at the beginning of the year. Our service program was the same as in year’s past. Just nothing worked out.

“With the equipment I have and my ability, we’ve won nine to 15 races per year and that’s my expectation. But there’s a lot of drivers who’d kill to have eight wins. It’s a good number, but not good enough.”

Dover recorded three wins and finished eighth in the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship standings despite skipping several events.

He also claimed two of the three races and the overall title during the 360ci winged sprint car portion of the famed Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., in June.

“(Jackson Motorplex Owner) Tod (Quiring) is doing everything he can do to make that race as big as he can,” he said. “You never know how big it will be in 30 years. To say I won it is pretty awesome.

“The No. 1 highlight of my season would have been the night at I-80 Speedway. We had problems in the heat race. We fought and fought. We started last in the feature on a big half-mile track and ended up winning on the last lap.”

Dover overcame a rough start to the night, which lined him up last in the A Main. He then charged from 20th to score the last-lap triumph on Aug. 25, which was his final win of the season.

The victory at I-80 Speedway gave him multiple triumphs at that track, which was one of three ovals where Dover won twice this season. He also doubled up at Jackson Motorplex as well as Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D. Dover was also victorious at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., and at Off Road Raceway in Norfolk, Neb.

Two of the wins came in 305ci winged sprint car competition while driving for Chris Roseland.

“I want to thank Chris Roseland and Chris Bowers for the opportunity to drive their cars,” he said. “Also, a huge thanks to all of our marketing partners and fans for their continued support. We’ll be back next year looking to be better than ever.”
